Mr. Marcotte graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from “Université de Sherbrooke” in 1997. He is a standing member of the “Barreau du Québec” licenced to practice law since 2000. Mr. Marcotte has completed his graduate studies1 in law and health policies in 2003.

Mr. Marcotte is a highly skilled and experienced litigator. He has appeared before many levels of courts, both judicial and quasi-judicial including the Court of Appeal, the Superior Court, the Court of Quebec and various boards and agencies. He specializes in health law (civil, medical and hospital liability); civil and commercial law (including insurance law, law of obligations, property law, contract law, disciplinary law, and injunctions); municipal law and elder law.

Mr. Marcotte is self-employed since 2002. He is proactive and responsive to its customers and is able to adopt a broad overview with respect to all aspects of his clients operations and recommend comprehensive solutions to resolve any issues that they may be facing.

Civil and Commercial Arbitrator and Mediator

In addition to being a lawyer specializing in civil, commercial and health law, Mr. Marcotte is accredited by the “Institut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ)” as a mediator and an arbitrator in place of as an arbitrator. He hears and writes final decisions with regards to civil and commercial litigations. He is also a civil and commercial mediator accredited by the “Barreau du Québec”. Thus, Mr. Marcotte may act at all stages of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

Mediation and arbitration are two options or steps integrated into the concept of participatory justice. The”Barreau du Québec” explains this concept as follows:
